Understanding God’s word.

A weekly Bible Study class is held at St Matthews each Friday morning that sheds new light on God’s word as it appears in the Old and New testaments.

These sessions are designed to equip and sustain us for our Christian walk by looking in more detail at the sacred scriptures. We look not just at the words on the page, but at the lesson that lies beneath for us.

Only by studying God’s word in detail can we hope to know what God’s guidance is for us, and how best to apply it in our day-to-day lives.

The sessions typically run for about an hour. We use a whole range of quality bible study resources to inform our discussions. Highlights to come later in the year are eminent Anglican scholar, Bishop Tom Wright’s study “Surprised by Hope” in which he rethinks heaven, the resurrection, and the mission of the Church, and a locally developed study on the role of remembering in the life of the Christian disciple.
