The Power of Prayer

Jesus said: Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Life can be challenging, but you don’t have to deal with the difficulties alone. At St Matthews, you can always find someone who will pray with you. Just ask one of our greeters at church – or call the parish office on (07) 33970390.

The bible also has plenty of encouraging things to say about the challenges we face, including the quote from Jesus above. The following bible verses are also good places to look for comfort and reassurance.

Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.” Isaiah 40:31

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

I have told you these things so that you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
